OnLive versus Xbox Live 03/14/2010
OnLive is an amazing service being released for the PC, Mac and the Television. It is the newest entry into the video game industry, having to now compete with the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live and whatever pathetic service that the Nintendo Wii has to offer. OnLive requires a monthly subscription fee of $15, on top of whatever video game rentals or purchases that you may make. This is fairly expensive compared to what you can pay for with Xbox Live. One month subscription fee for Xbox Live costs $10, which would equal $120 if you bought twelve of them. Especially considering how you can get Free Xbox Live codes anyway. For OnLive, it would cost you around $180 if you decided to buy twelve monthly subscriptions. This is a fairly large difference in cost, but both services do have multi-month subscription fee's. However, the OnLive service does have more attractive features, however. With OnLive, you are able to play high end games on a low end gaming system, such as a PC, Mac or netbook. You can even play directly on your television if you connect it to the OnLive Mini-Console. This is possible by connecting you to game servers over at OnLive data centers. These game servers are extremely high end and are being updated twice a year in order to provide you with the smoothest service possible. Not only that, but this is a community based service as well. Before you purchase a game, when you are looking at its profile, you can see people playing it live and you can even speculate their session in real time. This is a service that is ideal for those of you who have low end computers and can not afford to upgrade. Xbox Live, however, you are able to pretty much do what is expected. You are able to download demo's, play games online with your friends and more. However, compared to the new technology that is OnLive, it does not seem to compare very well. There are very different services, geared towards different audiences. However, in terms of entertainment and innovation, you may want to go with OnLive, although it is the more expensive service. It may be seen as worth it because of what it can provide for all of you who are hard core computer video gamers. Comments Your comment will be posted after it is approved. Leave a Reply |
